Would you like to take part in the Fifth annual Two Castles Gig Race?
The National Maritime Museum Cornwall would like to invite your Gig club to enter the Two Castles Gig Race on Sunday 9 August at 12.00 noon.
Last years launch was a great success with over 25 clubs taking part and this year promises to be even better with raised funds going to the RNLI and their Safety at Sea campaign.
The event is open to all gig clubs, by invitation only, with the race taking place on a course of over 45 minutes to the National Maritime Museum from a point off St Anthony’s Head.
• 1st Men’s Crew Prize = Brian Chenoweth Cup
• 1st ladies crew Prize = Ben Cochrane Cup
• 1st veterans crew Prize = Tankard
• 1st mixed crew Prize = Tankard
*All prizes are sponsored by the Maritime Museum, Wooden Hand Brewery, A&P Docks, Newells Travel and Brian Chenoweth.
The winning gigs will moor alongside the Museum’s pontoon with a prize giving ceremony in the Museum. Lots of free beer and food will be available for all competitors and their supporters in a marquee on the Events Square throughout the day.
If you don’t win the race, then there’s still the chance of winning another great prize. After the ceremonies in the Museum, there will be a prize draw for all competitors in the entertainment marquee. The prize is donated by Newells Travel. All crew members will be issued at registration with a personal ID card on a lanyard to wear throughout the event. The crew member and ID card must be present at the time of the draw to win the cruise. So, bring along your families and friends and get them to cheer you over the finish line.
Roseland Gig Club will control and marshal the event and full instructions and maps will be sent on receipt of your confirmed entry.
Please fill in the application form for each gig and return to Amy Cole by 10th July 2009
We look forward to seeing you.
