Gig Scales
Have you ever wondered how much your gigs weigh?
What is the weight difference between the race gigs and training pigs ?
Are plastic training Gigs really that much heavier ?
How much lighter do boats get after a winter in the shed ?
Well now you can find out …
As Gig Racing gets ever more competitive and races are won by inches and not feet then weight becomes a critical factor. To help you apply some facts and science to these discussions GigRower has bought a pair of ‘GigScales’. The pair of beam scales can take up to 2500 kg and are designed for commercial applications, if you would like us to pop round and weigh your boats then let us know, all we want to do is cover the £600 cost of the scales.
It only takes a minute to weigh a boat, all you need is a few bodies to lift each end of the gig as we slide the scales underneath, one person then gently holds the boat upright and the weight is taken. While we are there why not check the weight of oar sets, floor boards or even whole trailered gig to make sure you’re not exceeding your vehicle max towing limits?
