Scilly 2010 :: Helford Challenge Cup for Supervets

Scilly 2010 :: Helford Challenge Cup for Supervets

This year Helford will again be running the supervets challenge cup as part of the mens vets race on Friday evening. This is the fourth year that this challenge will take place.

This is  a class within the mens vets event. It is not part of the “official” event, though the organisers have told us that they are happy that the challenge takes place. It provides an opportunity for like for like competition amongst more senior crews. Last years challenge was won by Falmouth, with Salcome as runners up.

The challenge is open to all crews whose rowers are all over fifty years of age.

Helford observers will note the position of finishing boats, and the prize giving will
take place immediately after the event on the beach at the Helford base at the
right hand end of the main beach (looking from the sea). All participating crews
are warmly invited to the prize giving to meet their fellow competitors, but please bring your own beer!

If you would like to enter your crew in the Helford Challenge Cup then please email
the name of your club and the name of your boat to info – at – teamconnect.co.uk

See you on the start line

OLD POST

Helford is once again extending a challenge to any supervets (over 50) crews rowing in the vets race on Friday evening at the World Championships. The mens challenge was started three years ago, to make the race more interesting for the more “senior” crews, and has been won both times by Falmouth. This year Helford ladies supervets are also extending a challenge to ladies supervets crews. Mens crew have put up a cup as a prize, and the ladies crew a bottle of champagne

Last year there were thirteen supervets boats entered for the mens challenge cup, a considerable percentage of the overall field.

Please let Helford know at least one week prior to the championships if you have a men or ladies crew with the name of your club, and the boat you are rowing to Simon Walker email: simon@helfordproperties.co.uk
